Privacy Policy

This website, joegoodreau.com (the “Website”), is owned and operated by J. Goodreau Coaching, LLC, a Vermont limited liability company (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). The terms “you” and “your” refer to any person who visits or uses the Website, including a parent or legal guardian (“Parent or Guardian”) who registers or purchases on behalf of an athlete ages 13 to 17 (“Athlete”).

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Website and to the programs, courses, coaching sessions, emails, and other services we offer through it (the “Services”). It is part of our Terms and Conditions, which are posted on this Website. In this Privacy Policy, “Personal Data” means any information that identifies, or can reasonably be linked to, a person.

The Website and the Services are intended for, and offered only to, residents of the United States. We will use and share your Personal Data only as described in this Privacy Policy.

Children’s Privacy

The Website is not directed to children under 13. Consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account, register for any free or paid offer, submit a form, or provide any personal information through the Website.

All accounts, registrations, and purchases for anyone under 18 must be made by a Parent or Guardian. When a Parent or Guardian provides information about an Athlete, such as the Athlete’s name, age, sport, and goals, we use it only to deliver the Services the Parent or Guardian requested. We do not use Athlete information for advertising, and we do not share it with coaches, clubs, schools, colleges, or recruiters without the Parent or Guardian’s consent.

A Parent or Guardian may review the information we hold about their Athlete, ask us to correct or delete it, or tell us to stop collecting or using it, by emailing [email protected]. If we learn that we have collected personal information directly from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information we reasonably need to provide the Website and the Services. Depending on how you use the Website, we may collect:

  • Contact Information. Your name, email address, and, if you choose to provide it, your phone number, when you register for a free offer such as our masterclass, join our email list, fill out a contact form, or create an account.
  • Purchase Information. Your name, billing address, and payment details when you make a purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe or PayPal through our website platform, Kajabi. We receive confirmation of your payment, but we do not receive or store your full card number.
  • Athlete Information. Information a Parent or Guardian provides about an Athlete, such as the Athlete’s name, age or grade level, sport, team level, and goals.
  • Scheduling Information. Your name, email address, and your answers to scheduling questions when you book a call or session through Calendly.
  • Coaching Information. Notes about goals, progress, and action steps from coaching sessions.
  • Course Activity. Your course progress, such as which lessons you have completed, and any responses you choose to submit through the course platform.
  • Communications and Submissions. The content of emails and messages you send us, and any testimonials, comments, photos, or videos you choose to submit.
  • Device and Usage Information. When you visit the Website, our platform automatically collects information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and the website you came from. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described below.

Please Do Not Send Us Health Information. Our coaching and programs are mental performance coaching, not therapy or medical care. Please do not send us medical, health, or mental health information through forms, scheduling questions, or email. If you share it anyway, we will use it only as needed to respond to you and to keep the Athlete safe.

Providing Personal Data is voluntary, but if you choose not to provide certain information, you may not be able to use some parts of the Website or the Services.

How We Use Your Information

We use Personal Data to:

  • Provide the Services you request, including course access, coaching sessions, scheduling, and customer support
  • Process payments and keep business records required for tax and accounting purposes
  • Send marketing emails, such as masterclass follow-ups, tips, and offers, which you can unsubscribe from at any time
  • Respond to your questions and requests
  • Understand how the Website is used and improve it
  • Run and measure online advertising, if we use it. We do not use Athlete information for advertising.
  • Protect the safety of Athletes and others, prevent fraud, comply with the law, and enforce our Terms

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies for these purposes:

  • Essential Cookies. These keep the Website secure, keep you logged in, and make checkout work. The Website cannot function properly without them.
  • Analytics Cookies. Our platform, Kajabi, uses cookies to help us understand how visitors use the Website, such as which pages are visited most.
  • Advertising Cookies. If we run ads, such as through Google Ads, advertising partners may use cookies and tags to measure ad results and to show our ads to people who have visited the Website. We do not currently use social media advertising pixels. If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, although some features of the Website may not work properly if you do. If we run Google Ads, you can limit ad personalization through your Google account’s ad settings. Where required by applicable law, we honor browser-based opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your Personal Data for money. We share Personal Data only in these situations:

  • Service Providers. We share information with companies that help us run the Website and deliver the Services, and only as needed for them to do that work. These include Kajabi (website hosting, course delivery, accounts, email, and analytics), Stripe and PayPal (payment processing), Calendly (scheduling), and, if we run ads, Google (advertising). These providers have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
  • Professional Advisers. We may share information with our attorneys, accountants, and insurers as needed for their professional services.
  • Legal and Safety Reasons. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is required by law or legal process, or is necessary to protect the safety of an Athlete or any other person, to protect our rights or property, or to investigate a possible violation of our Terms. As described in our Terms and Conditions, if an Athlete shares information suggesting a risk of harm to themselves or others, or suggesting abuse or neglect, we may share it with the Athlete’s Parent or Guardian and, where required or appropriate, with emergency services or the proper authorities.
  • Business Transfers. If our business is sold, merged, or reorganized, Personal Data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
  • With Your Consent. We may share information for other purposes with your consent, such as publishing a testimonial with your name.

If we use advertising cookies, some U.S. state laws may treat the collection of data by advertising partners as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out by blocking advertising cookies in your browser, by turning on Global Privacy Control, or by contacting us at [email protected].

Viewing by Others. If you choose to share information in a group setting, such as a team session, group cohort, or group coaching call, others in that group may see or hear it. We cannot control how other participants use information you choose to share in those settings.

Where We Operate

We are based in the United States, and the Website and the Services are intended only for residents of the United States. Your Personal Data is processed and stored in the United States by us and our service providers. If you access the Website from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States under U.S. law.

Data Retention

We keep Personal Data only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. In general:

  • Purchase and payment records are kept for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes, generally up to seven years.
  • Account and course information is kept while your account is active, and deleted or anonymized within a reasonable time after you ask us to close it.
  • If we keep coaching notes, they are brief, used only to support the Athlete’s or client’s progress, and deleted within 12 months after the last coaching session, or sooner at the request of a Parent or Guardian or an adult client.
  • Email marketing information is kept until you unsubscribe, after which we keep only what we need to honor your request.

Security

We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect Personal Data, and we choose service providers that do the same. However, no method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your Personal Data, we will notify you and any required authorities as required by applicable law.

Your Account and Password

You are responsible for keeping your account login and password confidential and for all activity under your account, including activity by an Athlete using your account. Please notify us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been used without your permission, and log out when you finish using a shared device.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on the state where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your Personal Data:

  • To know what Personal Data we hold about you and how we use it, and to receive a copy of it
  • To correct Personal Data that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • To have your Personal Data deleted
  • To restrict or object to our use of your Personal Data, including for direct marketing
  • To receive your Personal Data in a portable format
  • To withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent, without affecting uses that took place before you withdrew it
  • To opt out of targeted advertising or any “sale” or “sharing” of Personal Data, as those terms are defined under applicable law
  • To opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not engage in profiling of this kind.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within 30 days, or within the time required by the law that applies to you. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, and we may ask for proof of that authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

If we deny your request, you may appeal our decision by replying to our response or by emailing [email protected] with “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line. We will respond to your appeal within the time required by the law that applies to you. If you are not satisfied with the result, you may contact your state attorney general.

Email Communications

You may unsubscribe from our marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, or by emailing [email protected]. Even if you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we may still send you messages about your purchases, account, or scheduled sessions.

We comply with the CAN-SPAM Act and do not send misleading emails. We do not sell or rent your email address. We share it only with the service providers that help us send our emails.

The Website may link to websites run by other people or companies. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those websites, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them. Please review their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
