Disclaimer
This website, joegoodreau.com, is owned and operated by J. Goodreau Coaching, LLC, a Vermont limited liability company (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Disclaimer applies to the website and to everything made available on or through it, including the MRT Program, the 24-Day MRT Course, MRT Intensive 1:1 sessions, masterclasses, workbooks, videos, podcast episodes, emails, social media content, speaking, and any other programs, products, services, or communications we provide (together, the “Website”).
This Disclaimer is part of our Terms and Conditions, which are posted on this Website. By using the Website, you agree to this Disclaimer. If you are a parent or legal guardian (“Parent or Guardian”) using the Website on behalf of an athlete under 18 (“Athlete”), you accept this Disclaimer on the Athlete’s behalf and your own. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.
For Educational and Informational Purposes Only
The information provided on or through the Website is for educational and informational purposes only. It is general in nature and is not tailored advice for any specific person’s health, medical, or psychological situation.
Mental Performance Coaching Is Not Therapy
Our coaching and programs are mental performance education and coaching. We teach mental skills for sport, such as focus, goal setting, routines, visualization, discipline, and responding to mistakes. Our coaching is not therapy, counseling, psychotherapy, or medical treatment, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any physical, mental, or emotional condition.
Joe Goodreau and J. Goodreau Coaching, LLC are not licensed physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, social workers, therapists, athletic trainers, or dietitians, and do not hold themselves out as any of these. Nothing on the Website is a substitute for advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a licensed health care or mental health professional.
Always seek the advice of a qualified, licensed professional with any questions about physical or mental health. Do not disregard professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of anything you read on the Website or receive from us. Do not start, stop, or change any medication or treatment without talking to the prescribing professional.
If an Athlete Is Struggling
Mental performance coaching is not the right support for everything an athlete may face. If an Athlete shows signs of anxiety, depression, disordered eating, substance use, or thoughts of self-harm, or if their distress is affecting daily life beyond sport, please contact a licensed mental health professional or the Athlete’s physician.
In a Crisis. In the United States, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day. In an emergency, call 911.
If, during our work together, we become concerned about an Athlete’s safety or wellbeing, we may recommend that the Athlete be seen by a licensed professional. As described in our Terms and Conditions, if an Athlete shares information suggesting a risk of harm to themselves or others, or suggesting abuse or neglect, we may share it with the Athlete’s Parent or Guardian and, where required or appropriate, with emergency services or the proper authorities.
Physical Health, Training, and Injury
Athletic training and competition carry inherent risks of physical injury. Any suggestions on the Website about training, routines, sleep, nutrition, or other habits are general in nature. Please consult a physician before making changes to training, nutrition, or sleep routines. Decisions about injuries, including concussions and return to play, should be made only by qualified medical professionals.
Not Recruiting, Eligibility, or Legal Advice
We may discuss the college pathway and the mental side of recruiting. We are not recruiting agents, and nothing on the Website is advice on college admissions, athletic eligibility, NCAA or other governing body rules, scholarships, or legal matters. Please consult the appropriate school officials, governing bodies, or professionals for guidance on those questions.
Personal Responsibility
You agree to provide accurate information to us. You acknowledge that you are using the Website voluntarily and that you, and not us, are responsible for your choices, actions, and results. A Parent or Guardian is responsible for supervising the Athlete’s use of the Website. You agree to use your own judgment before applying any idea, suggestion, or recommendation from the Website.
No Guarantees
Our role is to teach and support athletes as they build mental skills, but results depend primarily on each athlete’s own effort, commitment, and follow-through, as well as many factors outside anyone’s control. We do not guarantee any particular result, including improved performance, playing time, roster selection, team or program placement, college recruitment, admission, or scholarships. Results differ for each individual.
Testimonials and Athlete Outcomes
Testimonials and examples on the Website are from real athletes, parents, and coaches, and reflect their own experiences. Testimonials may be edited for length and clarity without changing their meaning. If we ever provide compensation or anything of value in exchange for a testimonial, we will disclose it.
Where we mention colleges, programs, or teams that athletes we have coached have gone on to join, those outcomes reflect the athletes’ own talent, work, and circumstances. Where we list schools, we identify the level of play, such as varsity, club, or preparatory school. These examples are not typical or guaranteed results, and they do not mean that you or your Athlete will achieve the same or similar results.
No Endorsement
The mention of any school, college, club, academy, team, organization, coach, or program on the Website does not mean that it sponsors, endorses, or is affiliated with our Services, unless we say so expressly. Likewise, references or links to the information, products, or services of any other person or business are shared for your information only and do not constitute our endorsement. We are not responsible for the content, products, or services of any third party.
Assumption of Risk
As with any training or personal development activity, there may be individual risks and circumstances that cannot be foreseen. You understand that you use any suggestion or recommendation from the Website at your own risk, and you assume those risks, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Limitation of Liability and Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Website or its content. Our limitation of liability, including the cap on our total liability, and your obligation to indemnify us are set out in full in our Terms and Conditions, which control if there is any difference between them and this Disclaimer.
No Warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE WEBSITE AND ALL INFORMATION, CONTENT, MATERIALS, PROGRAMS, PRODUCTS, AND SERVICES PROVIDED ON OR THROUGH IT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
Errors and Omissions
We make every effort to keep the information on the Website accurate and up to date. However, it may contain errors or become outdated, and research in sport psychology and mental performance continues to evolve. We are not responsible for errors or omissions in the Website or in information from third parties that we reference.
Changes to This Disclaimer
We may update this Disclaimer from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this Website and change the “Last Updated” date below.
